We carry out hydraulic repair, troubleshooting and load testing across Abu Dhabi, with most of our work in Mussafah, ICAD, KEZAD, Khalifa Port, Zayed Port and the Free Port. Abu Dhabi is where our largest jobs are: offshore support vessels, barges, offshore cranes and heavy industrial plant.

Why Abu Dhabi work is different

Abu Dhabi’s hydraulic work is dominated by the offshore oil and gas industry. Offshore support vessels, anchor handlers, crew boats, accommodation and work barges, and lift boats are based along the Mussafah channel and work for the operators and contractors in the offshore fields. Their cranes, A-frames, towing pins, shark jaws and winches are worked hard and inspected often, and charterers expect current certificates.

Onshore, the industrial zones carry a heavy concentration of steel fabrication, pipe and structural yards, and manufacturing plants, with large cranes and presses. That mix gives Abu Dhabi a higher share of big cylinder overhauls, offshore crane work and pre-charter load tests than the northern emirates.

Where we work in Abu Dhabi

Mussafah. The centre of the offshore marine and fabrication industry. The Mussafah channel is lined with OSV operators’ bases, fabrication yards and the naval and commercial shipyard. Typical work here: OSV crane and A-frame cylinders, winch motors, towing pins and shark jaws, barge cranes, HPUs and load tests before vessels return to charter. Fabrication yards bring crawler crane cylinders, gantry crane hydraulics and press repairs.

ICAD (Industrial City of Abu Dhabi). Factories and workshops: presses, steel and pipe processing machinery, power packs, lifting tables and industrial cylinders. See industrial hydraulics.

KEZAD and Khalifa Port. Khalifa Port is the emirate’s main container and general cargo port, with the KEZAD industrial zone behind it. Here we see port equipment such as reach stackers and mobile harbour crane hydraulics, plus manufacturing plants in the zone, and vessels calling at the port with steering, crane or hatch cover defects.

Zayed Port and the Free Port. The older city port handles general cargo, ro-ro and cruise traffic. Typical work: ship crane and ramp hydraulics, linkspans and passenger gangways, and port craft.

Offshore supply bases. Vessels and barges working the offshore fields come back to the supply bases for crew changes and stores. Short port calls mean work must be pre-planned: scope agreed, parts in hand, engineers ready on arrival.

How work is organised in Abu Dhabi

  • On-board attendance at Mussafah, Khalifa Port and Zayed Port, with engineers carrying tools, pressure gauges and common seals.
  • Component pickup from your base or the vessel to our Sharjah workshop for bench work. Cylinders, pumps and valve banks return with a test report.
  • Load tests with our water bags and calibrated load cells up to 150 t, on the quay or in the yard.
  • Offshore attendance, with engineers travelling with your crew change or supply run when a crane or deck system needs work on location. See engineer attendance.
  • Gate passes and permits. Port and offshore base access is arranged through the vessel’s agent or the client’s site team. We supply names, IDs, vehicle details and any training records requested, and we allow time for this in the plan.

Same day or next day attendance is typical for planned work once access is arranged. Cylinder reseals typically take 3 to 7 working days after strip-down, longer if a rod needs re-chroming by our machining partners.

Compliance in Abu Dhabi

Offshore vessels chartered by the oil and gas operators and their contractors are inspected against charterer requirements and offshore vessel inspection schemes, which ask for current lifting equipment certificates, load test records and maintenance history. Port and industrial zone sites have their own HSE and permit systems. Our test reports are written for these audiences, and our tests are regularly witnessed by class surveyors from DNV, Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register and ABS. We do not claim any operator approval; we provide the documentation operators ask their contractors to hold.

What to send from Abu Dhabi

  1. Vessel or site name, and the location (Mussafah base, port berth, yard or offshore field).
  2. Equipment, nameplate photographs and the fault.
  3. When the vessel or machine is available, and any charter or audit deadline.
  4. Access requirements: gate passes, permits, offshore training.

We usually quote within one working day of receiving photos and nameplate data. We focus on overhauls, load tests and planned work rather than single-hose call-outs; for one hose, a local hose shop will be quicker.

Questions

Do you have a base in Abu Dhabi?

Our workshop is in Sharjah. Our engineers attend sites and vessels in Abu Dhabi regularly, and components needing bench work are collected and brought back to the workshop.

Can you work in Mussafah OSV bases?

Yes. Much of our Abu Dhabi work is on offshore support vessels and barges at the Mussafah bases, alongside between jobs or during yard periods.

Can you load test cranes before a charter?

Yes. We load test cranes, A-frames and davits up to 150 t with water bags and calibrated load cells, and coordinate with class surveyors where witnessing is needed.

How fast can you attend in Abu Dhabi?

Same day or next day attendance is typical for planned work once gate passes or permits are in place. For breakdowns, we tell you honestly when an engineer can be there.
