What we did
At a port in Abu Dhabi, a crane's hoisting and luffing pump drive was leaking oil from its splitter gearbox because of worn, aged seals.
We dismantled the pump assembly carefully to avoid shaft and spline damage, inspected the gearbox internals, cleaned the sealing surfaces and renewed the worn oil seals.
Gears and splines showed no abnormal wear, and the bearing seats and mating surfaces were checked. We reassembled with correct alignment and ran a pressure check after installation.
The leak was eliminated and hydraulic performance restored.
